Dr. Basmah Omair is the CEO at Alsayedah Khadijah Bint Khawilid Lobbying Center, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). After her appointment as president of the former businesswomen training center in 2006, she was involved in the restructuring of the organization as lobbying center for businesswomen’s rights and empowerment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Basmah Omair has worked on the reform of regulations regarding women’s participation in national development. Through lobbying with high government officials, she has continuously striven towards women’s economic empowerment in multiple sectors and on all organizational levels, while ensuring work life balance for women. Thus, women are now allowed to obtain trade licenses in all business sectors, and to become board members in private, IPO, and family companies. Dr. Basmah Omair was raised and educated in the US for more than 23 years. She holds a PhD in Educational Technology/ Leadership and Management from the American University of Washington (2004). She is a member on several boards and has helped to conduct research together with international NGO’s and the World Bank on the obstacles facing women’s economic participation.
