Communiqué adopted

With the public handing over of the W20 requests to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in her role as acting President of the G20, the W20 Summit with over 400 participants and exceptionally high media interest from around the world came to an end today. The communiqué, with an extensive list of measures to strengthen women’s economic empowerment, is now on its way to the core of the G20 negotiations. The Chancellor made her support of Women20 more than clear with three appearances at this international summit.

The climax of the three-day congress was a particularly high-level panel dis-cussion with the German Chancellor, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, head of the IMF Christine Lagarde, and Ivanka Trump as the most prominent guests. Alongside much common ground and many suggestions from various perspectives, the G20-initiative found great support for the proposed setting up of a fund from both public and private means to promote women entrepreneurship and thus stimulate economic development.

Women20 Germany is a joint project of the National Council of German Women’s Organisations [Deutscher Frauenrat] and the Association of German Women Entrepreneurs [Verband deutscher Unternehmerinnen] (VdU).

The National Council of German Women’s Organisations is the biggest women’s lobby in Germany, serving as an umbrella organisation for over fifty women’s associations and organisations nationwide.

The Association of German Women Entrepreneurs is a cross-industry business association with international links which has been representing the interests of entrepreneurially active women in economics, society and politics for over sixty years.

The W20 dialogue process is supported by the Federal Ministry for family, senior citizens, women and youth. In addition, EMSD (Emerging Market Sustainability Dialogues) supports the project as Implementation Partner.
