WIP G20 Roundtable:
“Digitalisation: Policies for a Digital Future”

Meeting of Women Parliamentarians, in connection with the G20 Digital Ministers Conference hosted by the German Economic Affairs Ministry, in cooperation with W20.

 

A first-time meeting of G20 Digital Ministers will be convened during the 2017 German G20 Presidency. In an exclusive roundtable discussion, WIP will bring together female Parliamentarians from G20 countries to convene on the day prior to the Ministerial meeting.

The WIP G20 Roundtable: “Digitalisation: Policies for a Digital Future”, co-hosted by W20 and in cooperation with the German Ministry of Economic Affairs, will take place on 5-6 April in Düsseldorf. In connection with the G20 Digital Ministers Conference, the session will gather a small group of selected high-level women political leaders from G20 countries, and guest countries to the German G20 Presidency, to discuss: What are the major drivers transforming both digital economy, and digital society? How should women political leaders prepare for this new actors, and steer the process?

The selected Parliamentarians are also invited to attend the “Multi-Stakeholder Conference on the Digital Economy”, hosted by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs, on 6 April.

Background

During the 2017 German G20 Presidency, a first-time meeting of G20 Digital Ministers is convened. Initiatives that shape globalisation will be the focus of this meeting, which aims at more inclusive growth.

The WIP G20 Roundtable:Digitalisation: Policies for a Digital Future” gathers selected Women Political Leaders from G20 countries, and guest countries to the German G20 Presidency, to discuss: What are the major drivers transforming both digital economy, and digital society? How should women political leaders prepare for this new actors, and steer the process?

Brigitte Zypries, German Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, and host of the G20 Digital Ministers Meeting, will join the WIP G20 Roundtable on the second day of the meeting, and bring outcomes to the attention of the G20 Ministers.
